Volunteers

Why become a Volunteer?

Volunteers are the backbone of Credit Unions and without their commitment and enthusiasm there would not be Credit Unions.

Millom & District Credit Union values their volunteers and the contribution they make to their community.

The amount of time a Credit Union volunteer gives depends entirely on each individual. It can vary from 2 hours a fortnight to 3 or 4 hours per week. All people willing to assist are welcome and needed. There are a number of different volunteer roles. These can involve being:

  • A Collector : whose role it is to record people’s savings, loan repayments and enrolling new members.
  • A Director : of the Credit Union who is elected by the members and is responsible for the management and policies of the Credit Union.
  • An Officer on the Credit Committee : that deals with all the loan applications.
  • An Officer on the Internal Audit Committee : that examines the records and policies of the Credit Union.

Rewards to you

  • Developing new skills and sharing them
